So yeah, continuing with my consideration of what I want to do, what I think life is about I did some reading about the meaning of life, see what the internets have to say.

Understand I’m not really expecting I’ll find an answer, I’m hoping to get a better understanding of the question and then find my way. I believe that only looking back, at the end, can anyone say what their life was about, how could you possibly answer before the end ?

I started where all investigations into knowledge on the internet start, wikipedia.

The plainly named meaning of life article covers the topic nicely, or rather covers the various schools of thought, including preferences in popular culture.

From there I did some reading on Buddhism, particularly the four noble truths and the noble eightfold path.

I found the article on positive psychology very interesting, particularly the sections on suffering and the broad theories which link into flow

Flow is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity

The hallmark of flow is a feeling of spontaneous joy, even rapture, while performing a task.

The description provided in the flow article definitely picked me up a bit, to find words put to the sensation I’m looking for is comforting.

Reading in this area continues, particularly regarding the conditions for flow

I’m not looking to get all hippy dippy about this introspection and considered thought, as I said I’m not looking for answers, it really feels like I’m looking for questions.

And on we go, to find our way…
